Distinguished Educator Award
The Distinguished Educator Award was established in 1991 to honor educators who were employed in the Bay school district for a minimum of 10 years and have been recognized by the community, staff, students and/or parents as being a positive role model and whose extraordinary efforts made an impact on students and staff.
To be considered for the award, the person must:
Once a faculty member has been nominated, they will not be dropped from consideration for 5 years, provided they remain eligible according to the guidelines above, and have not been selected during that period.
Any individual who meets the following criteria may nominate a former faculty member for the award:
A nomination must be supported by two other individuals, not related to the family of the nominee.
The selection committee will convene bi-annually and select the inductees in May for that year’s presentation during Homecoming weekend. The inductees will be notified by June 1, and confirmation is needed within 30 days that they will be able to attend the award ceremony in person.

From 1968 – 1991 taught 7th and 8th grade Math and 6th grade Social Studies at Bay Middle School. Was the Chess Club Advisor at B.M.S.
Taught Math Improvement in Summer School for grades 1 – 5.
Received her Master’s Degree in Education from Cleveland State University in 1979.
In 1987, Mrs. Pinto was selected as one of the educators who had a major influence on the life of one of the top 20 senior students who graduated from Bay High School. Throughout her career, she received multiple letters of recommendation from students, parents and administrators. Overall, she was a well-liked and highly respected teacher.
