The Bay Alumni Senior Scholarships Fundraiser Sailed Into a 2020 Success!

The Alumni Madness bowling event proceeds soared to new heights thanks to the generosity of alums and friends!

This year, the committee brought in Barb Chrystal Houston, ’73, whose personal contact efforts ensured more multi-class donations as well as new and exciting raffle prizes donated by local vendors. Barb also devised a Bay Trivia quiz about our history, sports, music, and other fun facts. The game was for those who were to socialize rather than bowl. The trivia prize was for two diamond box seats to an Indians game, donated by Cristine and Ben Hoffmann. The game and prize will be saved for the next fundraising event.

Because of Karen Obester Adams, ’75, Stacey and Phil Nye ’82, this year’s food would have been the most creative and savory of all the past events. Covid may have cancelled out this annual festive event, but our appreciation abounds for this year’s bighearted contributors.

Some of this year’s prize donors, in amounts from $40 to $350, included:
Bay Lanes
Karli’s Kouture, LLC at Prime + Process
Minotti’s, Avon Store
Nothing Bundt Cakes, Avon Store
Sage, A Spa
UH Fitness Center
Barb Chrystal Houston ’73
Cristine Marco Hoffmann ’75

All spring, Hollywood rumors were abuzz in Bay. Jeff Bridges was sighted donning a full beard, shoulder length hair, leather Jandals, and “the robe,” not only in Heinen’s but all over the Village. Oh, wait…. was it really, “The Dude,” from The Big Lebowski….or was it one of Bay’s own class of ’77 devoted Madness attendees?! Well, stay tuned….as “The Dude” and friends promise to make an illustrious appearance at the next event.

Seeing some of the winners, while safely delivering the raffle prizes in person; was a fun event in itself! We were happy to be able to share our gratitude for the ticket donors, and they were happy to be appreciated! Get excited now because we just may have a new and intriguing surprise for our next event!

The Bay High senior scholarship recipients and BAF appreciate the outstanding dedication of: Cristine Marco Hoffmann ’75, Chair, Karen Obester Adams ’75, Barb Chrystal Houston ’73, and Bill Smith ’71, Treasurer.
